Marisa Torres was born in Spain and has lived and worked in New York since 1997. In 2000, she graduated with an MFA from Pratt Institute, NY and in 1995 she received her BFA at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid.She is a multidisciplinary artist, working in drawing, painting and installation. Among her most recent shows are Drawing Connections, Siena Art Institute, Siena, Italy (2011); It is What it is, Galleri 5, Copenhagen, Denmark (solo 2008); Body and Soul: Food for Thought, Gallery Biim, Seoul, South Korea (2008) and The Seed Project, Winkleman Gallery, New York, NY (2007). In 1996 she installed The Billboard Project in Edmonton, Canada, a public art piece sponsored by a local outdoor advertising company.

She has received fellowships and awards, such as an Artist Residency at the Valparaíso Foundation, Spain (2008); the Strategic Planning & Professional Development Seminars, Aljira Center for Contemporary Art, Newark, NJ (2004), a Residency Grant at the Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, VT (2003) and Fellowship for Graduate Studies in the USA from the Barrié de la Maza Foundation, La Coruña, Spain (1997-2000).

Her work has been reviewed in catalogues and international publications, and it has been included in public and private collections of contemporary art. In 2010 she settled in Barcelona, Spain.
